How to preserve beans freshness best?
Opinions vary... Fresh roast coffee beans normally maintain their flavour and aroma in their original packaging if used between day 3 and day 14 from roast date. Beans may start to degrade freshness after day 21 if left open in room temperature.
One way valve coffee bags were developed to solve a problem to coffee roasters and maintain the freshness longer. Just roasted coffee beans emit CO2 for about 24 hours after roasting. The one way valve allow CO2 to exit the packaging but wont let harmful air (Oxygen) in. When we buy fresh roast coffee for home, we want to make sure we get in sealed valved bag.
To preserve its freshness best, its best keeping your beans in an airtight container at room temperature away from light and humidity up to 30 days. Moisture is not the coffee’s best friend so many agree that refrigerator is not the right place to store it.
